Overview

The Tour d’Andorra is a tough 3 stage tour with high altitude climbs surrounded by the best landscapes of the country and probably of the whole Pyrenees Mountains. Be treated like a pro cyclist but still spend good time discovering our culture and our food. We’ll take care of your physical recovery to make you complete the Tour with full energy.

You’ll climb 8 passes of which 6 have been ridden in a stage of the Tour de France or La Vuelta.

The Route

DAY 1 – WELCOME TO ANDORRA

PICK UP AND TRANSFER TO ANDORRA.

The first service consists in transferring all our customers from any airport around Andorra (generally Barcelona, SPAIN) to Andorra. The transfer is 2h30 long by van as there is no airport nearby.

After arrival at the hotel we will offer a briefing providing general information of the tour before proceeding to bicycles tuning and fitting.

We will end the first day of the trip with a fantastic welcoming dinner in the hotel, with the whole team.

DAY 2 – STAGE 1 (COLL DE LA PEGUERA + COLL DE LA GALLINA + LA COMELLA)

We’ll start the route heading to the south of the country, 8km slightly downwards to the Spanish boarder in order to warm our legs up.

The first slopes of Coll de La Peguera are the hardest with some segments at 12%. From km5 to the top it gets a lot easier. Then, we’ll start the descent down to Sant Julià to start the Coll de a Gallina climb. The average slope is 7%-8% for about 7km. After that, we’ll get to one of the steepest sections -not only of stage 1, also of- the whole tour. We’ll face degrees of 15% on a narrow mountain road that will take us to the pass settled at nearly 2000m above the sea level. Take your time to enjoy the vies from the top ant take a picture of former pro Joaquim «Purito» Rodriguez honorific sculpture. The descent is long, save your brakes. When reaching Andorra la Vella, the Col de la Comella is a short climb (5 km) where you’ll get a nice panoramic view of the capital.

Work done for stage 1. Shower, drinks and spare time are waiting for you at the hotel. Relax at Caldea Spa in the afternoon to get you ready and recovered for next stage. Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 3 – STAGE 2 (PORT D’ENVALIRA + COLL D’ORDINO + ARCALIS)

Stage 2 is the queen stage of the Tour d’Andorra with 110km and 3.000m of elevation gain. It starts with a long and progressive climb to the highest pass of Andorra (2.407m) and also the longest climb: the Port d’Envalira.

The climb goes through the villages of Encamp, Canillo and Soldeu along the ski resorts of Grandvalira. Take your time on the top for refreshment and recovery as well as enjoying the the landscape and the Pic Blanc mountain. The descent is a great moment to contemplate nature. Once we get to Canillo, the climb of Montaup (Coll d’Ordino) is not a hard one. Have a look at the Mirador del Quer just above your head, a 12m platform with more than 500m of free fall.

After getting to the pass of Coll d’Ordino, the descent to Ordino is nice and easy with a bunch of technical U turns. Then, the approach to La Coma d’Arcalis starts through typical mountain villages. After 8km of slight uphill, we get to El Serrat where the portions become harder with degrees up to 11%. Arcalis is a ski resort and it has been the finish line of the Tour de France in 1997, 2009 and 2016 with the victories of Jan Ulrich, Brice Feillu and Tom Dumoulin.

Work done for stage 2. Shower, spare time and drinks are waiting for you at the hotel. Dinner in a typical Andorran downtown restaurant.

DAY 4 – STAGE 3 (COLL DE BEIXALÍS + PORT DE CABÚS)

Coll de Beixalis is famous for its high slope degrees reaching more than 17% in some portions. This climb was first ridden in stage 11 of La Vuelta in 2015. Mikel Landa won the first 100% Andorran stage in history. The climb starts with hard slopes until km 4. Then it becomes more rideable until the top. Sepp Kuss (Jumbo Visma, USA) won the the 15th stage of the Tour de France thanks to a powerfull attack at the middle section turns of the climb. The top is at 1.800m above the sea level and the descent is easy with large straight road. After reaching La Massan, we’ll ride a slight uphill segment before attacking the last climb of the Tour, the Port de Cabús at 2.300m.

Once we get to the Port de Cabús we’ll be able to step one foot in Spain while the other one keeps touching Andorra. Port de Cabús finishes with a dirt road that leads to Alins in the Catalan Pyrenees. It used to be a smuggling path to take goods (mostly tobacco) from Andorra to Spain in the 19th century.

Take your time and admire the breathtaking 360º views.

Work done for stage 3. Shower, drinks and a media session are waiting for you at the hotel. Dinner in the hotel’s restaurant.
